A guided town walk (about 3 hours)
This town walk combines 3 different aspects of life on Skopelos.
- Admire the local architecture of the village (houses and churches),
- learn how people live here on the island (work, housing)
- and take a peak in the life of the inhabitants of Skopelos
We will start our walk in front of the National Bank (in the centre of the harbour front). A little further are steps which take us up to the top of the town and the visible remains of 2 Venetian castles that were built there. We pass several churches on our way and visit some during our walk. The views from the top of the village are truly stunning and once there we can then walk down into the village through the narrow streets where you easily can get lost! During the walk your guide will try to answer all your questions. We will visit a shop which makes traditional sweets in syrup using fruits from the island and also during the walk we will show you examples of traditional crafts. We will tell you how olives are pressed and preserved, visit a workshop where three generations of the same family create unique and beautiful pottery and view a demonstration so you can see it with your own eyes. A well deserved rest with a drink concludes the walk.
